Boy Racer Attack on Police

Postby MR2BOY23 » Sat Jan 31, 2009 6:17 pm

Just saw something on tv 3 news, about boy racers in christchurch attacking police officers by bottling their cars and shooting at them with air rifles. The police seemed pissed off and no doubt there is going to be a crackdown on them

the boy racers are shooting the cops with air rifles? i don't think they would get away with doing that (the boy racers) .. especially bottling their car also.

The police officer was surrounded in his patrol car by around a hundred boy racers apparently, they're calling it an ambush

noone should have an excuse to be around when that sort of stuff happens anyway.
if you're not smart enough to figure out when it time to go home, then you deserve whatever the police do in return. my bet is on a massive raid on all the hotspots and the confiscation of a lot of cars

Holy crap! Wasn't there a news story the other day about Christchurch police giving out the most 'boy racer' tickets. Guess this is 'the revenge of the boy racers'. I used to live in Christchurch, and I never thought it was THAT bad. If anything, CHCH is one of the more conservative cities in NZ. I guess its that seedy underbelly they dont show in the tourist brochures. But if thats the case, you would think the Hutt Valley would be miles ahead

edit - found some stuff articles -

http://www.stuff.co.nz/4823663a11.html - Christchurch boy racers wreak havoc (an older one, but lends support to the idea that CHCH boy racers are thugs ruining it for everyone with modified cars)

Christchurch police are investigating what they say was an organised attack on a police sergeant late Friday night.

They say he was set on by a gang of 300 youths in Wigram Road and an air rifle was fired at him.

Christchurch area commander, Malcolm Johnston, says the sergeant was responding to a call about boy racers spinning wheels and doing burn outs in the Wigram area.

Commander Johnston says the youths began throwing bottles and then a slug from the air rifle struck his car window, before the officer managed to make his escape.

He says the action was a virtual ambush of the officer by a gang of thugs, who were calling out for the officer to be killed.

The cops are seriously pissed.

The thing is, because there were so many of them, the cops have virtually 0 percent chance of charging any one person for it.

Shit.. As much as I hate certain laws, (mostly loud exhaust), it still gives teenagers, or any age person, a right to attack police like that.. Makes me kinda sick actually. how would they like being ambushed by 300 people.

i know its shit and all that.... real stupid thing to be doing, but tbh the cop got himself into that situation.

There were massive skids there last night, and if a single patrol car is stupid enough to get stuck in the middle of that, then i wouldnt want to be in that car. What they needed to do was send a large swarm of 5+ patrol cars down in one go.

They didnt ambush him, he walked into a gunfight with his knife drawn.

so, some one calls the cops and says "there hoons doing skids"
they are meant to send the AOS and riot squads?
i think not.

if one cop turns up to where theres 100 ppl, those 100 ppl are allowed to throw things and fire air rifles?

chch does have a larger boy racer problem

i think its due to the layout of the city, its cruise friendly. not like auckland or wellington which suck to drive in.

as i said, burnham is just down the road, lock the place down . arrest everyone present and impound every car. ............. pretty simple.

it just seems a VERY stupid idea to me to send one police car to attend to well over 100 drunk dickheads doing illegal skids.

im definitely not condoning what the dickheads did to the police, thats stupid and i hope they get owned for that, but the police have to deal with the situation a bit better.

I'm saying in the next few days/weeks etc cops will be cracking down on anyone they deem to be a "boyracer" which could be anyone of us in their eyes. Hence better off catching the bus than getting fined for dumb shit
