They're being arrogant little sh*ts and expecting the world to revolve around them and everyone to do everything for them. If they weren't such brainless little a**holes then they'd do something for themselves and at least try to have their fun in a legal manner.

They'll happily go out and tick up thousands on making their car what they want, but wont go and spend a few hundred to go and speed as much as they like at a track day etc.

Have some common sense, its not a council responsibility to sort them out. They all just need to grow up

the only reason they would attend a 'trackday', would be if their licence depended on it.
alas they don't. they park up on the embankment, abusing anyone with enough clues to do 'legal' skids, leave all their rubbish on the ground halfway between the rubbish bins they tip over before they do a few donuts in the carpark and leave

So......being as that all these idiots are starting to cause trouble and make all of us wear the consequences perhaps it is time for us in the modified car community to out these lil g@yboys from their closet they hide in so the Police can target them instead of the whole modified car community?

If people out there have information on these idiots,bebo/myspace/facebook links,email address etc post them up. If we collect enough information I sure we can pass it along to the police.

If the Police stop looking at us like we're harbouring/helping these f*cking idiots then perhaps they will work with us instead of against us

The thing is, the worst offenders are the worst of the no hopers out there. We all know people like that...all the way through school they were no hopers, and all the way through life most of them remain no hopers. They distance themselves from those sucessful members of society by acting out. Their actions scream 'I'm a no hoper and you have to deal with it.'

Even if they got a dedicated area to do all this in, the hardcore no hopers would see it as uncool, because it is a way for socoety to control them. They obviously get their kicks from being outsiders - i.e not being controlled by anyone.

I know its a stretch. but you can draw parallels between these morons and the emergence of the Hells Angels in America. The Hell Angels formed because there were guys (and chicks) who were outcasts, the lowest of the low. Rejected by society, they took it upon themselves to outcast themselves even further and make life hard for the ones who live their lives within the confines of a rule and law orientated society.

They got their kicks from scaring locals with their loud machines. Drugs, alcohol and petrol were their fuel, and the hate they recieved from the public was their fire. This is very similar to this group of thugs, who can almost be looked at as a gang.

Ignoring the problem wont solve it, but giving them all this media coverage obviously gives them an inflated sense of self, which only serves to make the problem worse.

we had a place we could go and do skids on an old railway yard.. you just had to ask the guy that lived across the road (ex railway worker) and you could have a good day of skids.. but oneday someone complaind because the smoke was gong over the road.. so a cop came out.. saw what they were doing and actuly liked the idea.. so talked to the council and they agreed.. but it was actuly railway land so had to ask for there permition.... and they sed no.. so that ended that.. ad scynce then one of my mates lost his lycence for doing skids because there isint anywhere to go.....

i beleve that a skid pad wouldint solve the problem but could def help it..

i dont excuse the actions of those idiots, but i do suspect that the police knew this was going to happen.

We all know they want more resources to tackle the problem down there.

Now they have a good reason. Had they sent in alot of police this probably wouldnt have happened and they wouldnt have as much support to get the problem sorted.

Am i the only one who's looking forward to seeing the police response on the news next weekend?

I'm thinking it'll be a complete roundup in full riot gear and processing of everyone involved to the letter of the law. the CHCH head cop on the news the other night didn't sound particularly thrilled.

Was dropping someone home last night and was driving near the area this happened, looked like the they wern't smart enought to find somewhere else to do skids as there was about 8 or 9 cop cars and 3 paddy wagons heading to the same place in convoy.

Good on you for getting off your arse and attempting to do something for the benefit of others and yourself. Unfortunately there isn't anyone in Christchurch dedicated enough to get this done here, or even try. I think a majority of the excitement of the events is in flaunting the law and as such a perminant venue won't ever be completed.

If you are really into car control (rather than just the drunken mob side of the skid event) then there are a plethora of car events that are considerably more taxing than just laying down a patch. Drift, gymkhana, offroad, rally, sprint, roundy rounds.
Personally I like to spin my back tyres legally at over 150kph. Scares the shyte out of me, brings a wide smile to my face and has no chance of hurting anyone but me.

building an area wont work..... the skids used to be on haskets road outside ruapuna untill they closed the road at night, they even did skids outside ruapuna during the middle of the day after a drift event, so of coares those of us who actually have the gumption and dedication to enter events legally on the track get blamed for all the bad behaviour/skids etc. we even call the police and inform them of the events and they do nothing about it, all is would take is 1 cop car sitting outside ruapuna and nothing would happen.

thank god i did all my "crusing" when i was 16. i cant think of anything gayer than driving around for hours.

yeh didnt need to wait for long, the news tonight showed exactly what i expected. police in riot gear proving a point. good work i say. i hope they carry it on for months to come. hopefully CHCH sees fit to set up a speciallist unit dedicated to traffic crimes like this, like what the news was showing Manukau has already done.

best idea ever. take along something that won't get you in the shit when you try to leave, like a bog stock people mover and film their actions all night, complete with loads of number plate closeups and driver facial shots , then submit it to police.

d1 mule i think building an area would help as it would be off road therefore not effecting any1 else and therefore not illegal if setup correctly. but yes it is a shame that about the skids outside organised car events.

some of us still go out at night to cruise with your mates park up and talk. but that doesnt work, i was out with my car crew a couple of weekends ago, down at quay street at like 10 or 11? waaaaay before drags starts or even really starts 2 spark up. even some toyspeeders were there, we'd been sitting milling around and just having a mean chat with every one, undercover pulls up and i think said over the speakerphone "get out or well get you out" or something along those lines. not cool when we are clearly not the problem, the r32 on cuts doing a one wheeler 50 metres away is

im guessing everyone else on toyspeed follows speed limits, always has their car legal and never brakes any rules.
