only time its cool in a car that isn't a 3000hp drag car, is when disposing of a complete shitter ie hammer it until it blows.
i never really "got it" either to be honest.

i think that if anyone was at that scene and they make it obvious they were they should be banned.

police read car forums like this one, usually gives them tips

fighting fire with fire just plain dumb.

boy racers are a problem > make more laws > angrier boy racers > events like this > more laws > more angry boy racers.

Whats fun or cool about owning swords? I'm a big fan of skids, provided they're in proper venues. Something about the whole screaming engines, screaming tyres and general lack of mechanical sympathy...just does it for me
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

some people's idea of fun is listening to house music and dancing, why you would want to do that, i dont know.

i for one will be attending at least one burnout comp in the supra when its going.
I will be having a bucket load of fun thats for sure

entering a burnout comp where you are in the hunt for financial reward has a whole heap more merit, than laying 50l of diesil (so your gutless piece of crap can do a skid on a public road) which can have serious financial penalties

Lol I watched someone get chased and smashed one night after they layed diesel and some guy in his commodore (skinhead) spun out.. So he hunted down the person who put it down and absolutely maulled him out.

Diesel = dumb.
People who attack cops = go home and play gran turismo.
mad mikes full strip burnout = win

i dont personally understand it (i see it as just needless car abuse), so before everyone jumps on the wagon and keeps saying that im part of the issue (page 2 of this thread), you might want to slow down.

I cant even do a 'skid'.... i own a completely street legal modified Legacy GTB, havent had anything more than a parking ticket, and would consider myself an enthusiast. My speeding is to be done on a track, and i dont care for drifting. I was out on friday night in a mates legacy (along with other subaru owners), but did not attend the skids, but i knew they were happening.

As others have said, giving racers somewhere to do skids etc wont work, as they would either destroy the place, or get bored and rip out some other road closer.

I dont like the idea of crushing cars, as that to me is just a waste of what could possibly be a very good car that has been used badly. They would be better off sending the cars to turners, and the owner to jail.

i think a burn out pad some where secluded would work.

remember when skating was all the rage and the old folk had a whinge about kids skating on the foot path and school bench's being funked up.
well this was a big problem in chch so much so that someone in the council had the brains to build a skating park at Washington park. and the problem was pretty much solved. (i know the craze died down but the park DID get kids off the streets and in the park.

its generation z mentality. they want everything done for them or they'll throw a pissy tantrum. and i think it will get worse in the next gen. that anti smacking bill was passed and you know from your own childhood that some kids needed a smack more then others.

i agree with the hopeless people statement. guys i know from high school that where scumbags then are still scumbags. rapest. bullies. lazy doll payroll scum.

Pussys that are to scared to turn up and get involved at drag/drift/sprint event thats all there is to it. I hope the Police do hit hard on the friday and saturday night of the fours and rotors, I hope it doesnt ruin the show or the drags as alot of ppl down here put alot of work into there cars and its pretty much our biggest import drag meet for the season, Not to forget how much time and effort Azzar and crew put into organising it. And as for a legal place to do burnouts or race, Not enough people turn up to the drag events now so why put more on and run at a loss. Chch used to have a really good sociable car scene. I dont know what changed it but its long gone

Makes me wonder why I'm leaving for Christchurch tomorrow. 2 months in Scotland and I could probably count the boy racers I've seen on one hand.

Seems this issue is snowballing fast, Paul on Breakfast is on a rampage and some of the feedback has been 'crush them all'. Crushing cars is very heavy handed, perhaps sell them cheap in auctions instead.

Is this boy racer thing over-hyped I'm asking myself.I'm thinking of the bad apples in amongst the mostly good ones if we compare it to say repeated drunk driving now there's something I remember seeing a guy that had been done 12 times but still would drive under the influence and surely this is a worse problem than these kids doing whatever its there doing. There talking about crushing cars now that is a short term fix and whose not to say then the offender going on a ticking another car up on finance the next week so I'm not really feeling that at all.

Solutions well I don't have any long term ones myself because in a scene like this your always going to have the rotten apples so what are peoples thoughts on trying to sought this out harder crack down's I'm not so sure.

selling them cheap only hands them back to the muppets that had them seized in the first place. selling them for top dollar hands money back to the offender.

Pretty sure they wouldnt be able to buy them on the fact that they have lost their licence, and any funds from selling the cars would go to paying off existing fines.

I can't believe any group of people was so utterly stupid as to take on and ambush a police car. Now they're absolutely screwed, because the boys in blue are going to hit them like a ton of bricks. 8O
