Hi folks

For anyone who has replace teh stereo in a runx/allex can you tell me which wire is the aerial power?

Reception with my new stereo is absolutely rubbish, and I'm pretty sure there was a wire I needed to give power to to fix this last time I had this problem.

Have a feeling its the pink wire, assuming it uses the same as the electric aerial.

wheres a little white spade plug which runs along with the aerial thats if its a window mounted one. that usually loops back into the loom with yea i think its a pink wire

It's not a window one, it's one of the stubby roof mount ones.

So I need to find the pink wire, and give it 12V acc power yes? Just splice into the existing acc power wire?

What's the best way to test I have the correct wire? Don't want to go blowing fuses :S

why aren't you using loom adaptors? normally that is the easiest solution to put a stereo in a car.

What's the point of a loom adapter if I only hook up power, acc and earth?

because you need to hook up the aerial as well it seems.

generally its the pink wire twisted up to a black/red wire for power aerials

12V + = Blue w/Yellow stripe
Ignition = Grey
Ilumination = Green
Ground = Brown
Aerial = Pink + Black w/red stripe
L front = Pink+ / Purple -
R front = light green+ / blue-
L rear = black+ / yellow-
R rear = red+ / white-

oh... i dont even remember hooking this wire up and it seems to be fine, I should take another look

Ours "works", it's listenable, but you need to turn it up a long way, and it's a bit patchy.

If you didn't connect it you could be missing out. But then again, I've removed a shedload of other boxes and cabling that went with the original stereo - if you didn't do that you might be ok
