16v Multihex headbolts

Postby AE82 FXGT » Wed Feb 04, 2009 12:42 pm

Hey all, did a search but couldn't find anything.

I'm about to put my head back on my gze, but to undo the head I used a 3/8" multihex tube socket as my 1/2" one didn't fit.

So I used a converter from 3/8" to 1/2" and a 1/2" powerbar to crack them off.

These being torque to yeild bolts I'm not sure if the converter can handle the torque to tighten the new bolts back up.

What does everyone else use?

Yeah I used my 1/4" sockets with a 1/2" adapter for my torque wrench. You never actually put much load on the sockets with the TTY bolts.

And don't forget to oil the head bolt threads before you do them up.
See ya

Yeah I always oil the headbolts, even the washers that sit under them to decrease resistance.

Cheers guys.
