justen uses a modified JZA70 Diff in a modified St185 frame ..

He himself have said the hubs were too weak to handle the torque putting to the back wheels - and is planning on making more mods to make it closer to a supra rear end then a Gt4 one .. ( remember his is turboed- and alot more grunty than a NA 1uz, and uses a tremec GB )

The firewall needed moving back , the trans tunnel was enlarged as far as i know - and its had some serious bracing done inside and out to stop it from flexing .

You might make it easier using a w55/na 1uz , but its still a big budget project , and something you dont go half arsed into , thats for sure !

Dunno if that helps or not - but just be aware as it might look straight forward but it is not .. Talk to justen on toymods if your ultra keen , and he'll lay it to you straight , no boosheet, on what the swap involves to do it RIGHT and safely

if your still keen on 1uz RD and kinda cool - maybe look around for a GA70 - that swaps alot more straight forward , and looks much more " suiting " to a 1uz RWD platform

Hey I dont doubt it can be done,

we have done 3 FR to RWD conversions now,
couple of AE101's and a Ford Focus,

But there are far many more problems that you think of,
i.e. where does the steering rack go?,
as std location puts it through the bellhousing.

Rail will definatly need to be repaired to pass cert from that pic,

but go for it,

and post up progress pictures.

its not so much doubtful mate - i say if you can do it do it .. ( all the more power , and an interesting swap )

just be aware - like matt mentioned , its not as easy as it sounds to do this type of conversion in this type of car.

Ahhh the steering... you just get two people to sit on the rails and kick the wheels into the right place as you drive! easy.

I have put the right hub on the left and the left on the right!
This changes where the steering arm joins the hub to the front  so now i can have the rack in the middle of the engine bay.
Now ill make a custom cross member going from one rail to the other that may have the engine bolted to it as well as the rack, but it may just be the rack mounted to it.....

may use a 162 rack on its side...... i think justen used a subaru one?
and i just happen to have a legacy parts car ...
