I think its awesome! Have don a bit of work out there... was there in August last year and there was a hugh amount of work to do there. was really just sub base through some massive cuttigs and fills.

Takes alot of time off the total which is all good - missing orwea helps too.

Only been down it on the free days before charging... working don there a few nights coming up... will have another look :)

$2 aint all that bad is it? should have alot more roads in NZ where user pays! Like Waikato express way, harbour bridge etc etc.

You get 3 days to pay afterwards, so probably expect you to call once your home . The signs do sound like they expect you to call while driving!

Ive only been through on a free day on the day it started, i really like the road :)

Uh, it sucks, typical NZ poor (read: failure) futureproofing.

Lane control signals and two lanes into one for the tunnel..... when will they learn?

The only time this road is every going to be good is if you have to commute there frequently and want to cut a good chunk of time off your journey. When a big holiday like easter/christmas comes around the shortfalls will be majorly apparent.

Warkworth has a big widening and safety improvements project in the works now. Done a bit of testing out there.. Going by the plans, there is 4 laning going in - right through

Hmm... Epic Fail....
At the moment the tunnels are not being fully opened up... Some sort of testing still going on...
The whole road is designed for three lanes each way. Two lanes will be available (hopefully soon) and the third will be marked and added as the need arises.

(I work for one of the companies involved in the design of the whole thing)

Went on it last week, awesome. Seems lots of people are too jewish to use it, which makes for nice fast traffic flow. I got overtaken while doing 120 8O
