3S-GE N/A Tuning

Postby celica_xr9145 » Wed Feb 11, 2009 11:24 am

So what tuning methods are they for a N/A Engine?

From what i heard, theres the intake, the exhaust system and then i seen some racing chips.
I also heard of things like port grind and polish.

Any Ideas?

Save your dollars and buy something a bit faster. Honestly. for the large amounts of money you will have to spend, the power gains wont be worth it. You can get some after market headers and a better exhaust, but that would be as far as I would go with this type of car. But hey, if you are planning on keeping this car for a while, go nuts! But if you expect that you will get sick of it soon i say leave it as is. Just do the little things like leads and spark plugs etc etc, keep her tidy. Like some of the guys said in your other thread, buy a gt4 and you're power problems will be solved :)

If you want an NA motor to go well in that sort of car, the motor is the last place to look.

Pull out every conceivable thing that you dont need.

Spare tire? nah
sound deadening? nah
back seats? you know what to do.
girlfriend? mereley ballast.

Every extra kph that you can carry around a corner, is one less that you need power to accellerate to.

Of course this applies to turbo cars as well... and a GT4 is a hell of a lot easier to get some more power out of, when you get bored.

yea i do plan on keeping my car but in future i would like a gt4, more st205 that 185.

I might do some cheap mods such as exhaust, i'd rather have a nice interior tho so most probs going to focus more on that then.

But out of interest, what can be done.

Exhaust
Aftermarket headers

What else?
