Registering accident damaged vehicle

Postby Lloyd » Tue Feb 10, 2009 6:40 pm

Something thats been on the road in NZ and written off due to accident damage, is all thats required for re-registering it an accident repair cert or does it go a bit deeper than that? Assuming the usual "strict warrant" goes through alright

You'll need a repair cert (Form MR2A from memory) which allows it to then go through compliancing when the allows it to be re-registered.

Lots of datasheets on the LTSA website.

Don't underestimate the hidden costs (like brake pads).

I'd be guessing Adams will be fixed by the look of it. And more plotting stupidity. Or just get a KP to play with instead

an MR2A is the form you get once it has been repaired to the required standard. you use said form to actually register the car.

you've got the core of it right HRT, the main thing will be to contact VTNZ before you undertake any repairs and ask them what process you need to go through or you will just end up repairing it again.

repair certing can be very expensive however

you'll also need to prove ownership trail from last registered owner to you

#1 rule. Don't start repairs till the repair certifier has given you directions.

tell me you arent going to all this hassle for a jazz :P

man when they write cars off its for a reason, re-registering it will only add to the bill that caused it to be written off in the first place, as the engineer will make you do things SERIOUSLY the right way. quite apart from all the compliance costs.

if it were a bit of a classic or a labour of love i could understand, but a jazz?!

Nah, seeing it got me wondering though. And we tend to get on quite well with the compliance centre
