custom throttle cables?

Postby iOnic » Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:19 pm

Anyone know any places that make these? It's something that's been at the back of my mind for a while.

Unsure about up there, but down here I uses Sims Brakes, who specialize in Brakes and Clutches. Maybe try someone like that.

I was told that mountain biking shops would be a good place to chat to as bikes use the same type of cable (really?) for their brakes as cars do for the throttle.

Cheers anyway - I'll have a chat to some brake/clutch places up here and see what they say.

The cables of mountain bikes are similar, but maybe a smaller diameter, and not as strong, just comparing my mountain bike ones to my throttle cable

I'd try a brake and clutch place, as didn't some old clutches use cable similar to throttle cables?

IF you need one a different lenght, have a gander at pick a part.

I found one that fit exactly up to my car as before, but the right length, from something about 10 years older hahaha.

And it only cost a few bucks.

yea some mountain biking shops can custom make cables which are sometimes used on disc brake applications but as preiviously stated are smaller diameter cable and casing for weight saving, and probibly not as strong. depending on the cable they may be able to help you but best bet is an automotive cable manufacter. most brake and clutch places will be able to either do this or arrange to have it done for you. autostop, b&t will both be able to put you in the right direction.
