diff cooler placement

Postby barryogen » Thu Feb 19, 2009 1:19 pm

not my car, posting for a mate with an altezza the same as mine(rs200z)

where do people normally mount a diff cooler on an altezza?

I was thinking that cutting a hole in the bumper would do as it seems about the right size to fit one, I just wondered if there is positive or negitive pressure inside the rear bumper, anyone know how I could find out?

Or know of a better placement for it?

My dads one on his esky hangs infront of the diff on an angle.
Seems to do the trick just fine. You could do that and add some kind of ducting if needed.

just for a matter of interest...
what sort of temps does a diff normally reach?
even after a flogging the casing of mine is only "warm to hot" to the touch (you could hold your hand on it quite fine, but face on it would probably be short time only before you wanted to shift it off)

Dont know what normall is, but in the big hp enduro race cars,
we see diff temps of 180 deg, WITH a cooler.

I just got a mental picture of you sticking your face up against your diff to check its temperature lol
