Exhaust Systems

Postby GT4PWA » Mon Feb 23, 2009 7:42 pm

I have decided to take a big risk and come up with this poll and would like your ideas on it....

As we are all aware more n more people are starting to get pissed off at noisy cars driving past their homes at all hours of the day and night. I have come up with an idea i think will keep us the car enthusiasts and the general public happy.

No driving of vehicles with modified exhaust systems between the hours of 10pm and 6am

If things stay the way they are the govt may go to the extreme and ban all modified exhaust systems or take some sort of action. Should we as a car enthusiast community get behind something and suggest it to GOVT?

Would love your ideas on this…

On a personal level I do my best not to drive my car after 10pm due to the exhaust system I have on it (its legal but I have a lady who works for VTNZ next door can never be too safe)

If you want this in the poll section add a poll. Otherwise it can be moved to somewhere more suitable.

IMO a your suggestion is a really bad/stupid idea. Ban idiots from driving will do a better job 8) Theres nothing wrong with a modified exhaust. A stupidly loud exhaust is where the problem is at. Which is covered by laws already.

ok let me answer that with a question

Do you think your neighbors should get woken up every Friday night because you choose to drive your car with a modified exhaust?

in situations like this you could maybe apply for a late driving notice that is only to get from point A to point B. or you could have a daily driver that is standard.....(like i do so im not driving late at night)

So if I get my exhaust repaired at Pitstop then it's no longer "manufacturers standard", according to the letter of your new "Law. As for the dB thing, you'd rather not go there unless you're prepared for a proper testing procedure to be put in place.

1, Certain dB is already against the law.

2, My car can now no longer be driven after 10pm as I replaced the dead cat with a resonator and I also have a chrome slide on tip.

See the problems with your idea?

Loud exhausts are already catered for with fines / demerits etc.

a car cruising round with a modified exhaust will NOT wake up everyone. a dick hooning round on VTEC everywhere, or a rota being thrashed however, will. how can you discriminate? some cars are louder than the current limit FACTORY already!

Its just a matter of us being courteous... my car is probably pretty damn close to the 95db... when im driving at night i try to keep the revs as low as i can and keep the throttle under 50%.... that tend to keep it quiet

That being said i dont usually use more than 50% throttle anyway
