Low Idle - MR2 Turbo

Postby Boosted_162 » Mon Feb 23, 2009 9:35 pm

Just a random question about my MR2. Its running a PowerFC on basemap (i dont drive it) but when i start it at cold, it just cuts out with no throttle. As it gets warmer, it will idle at about 500rpm. Would this be related to the tune? (no cold start?). When it idles low, i can hear a clicking from the fuel pump relay, is this normal or is it something i should worry about??

And just one other thing. When i did test drive it, i was getting knock levels of around 30. How am i temporarily able to add a bit of fuel over the whole table? I run a aftermarket turbo.

Cheers

(by the way - car will be getting tuned as soon as i can afford to - buy my 180sx!)

There is cold start in the base map, and idle speed control, so there is no reason for a low idle just because of the PowerFC, mine idles at 750rpm.

Knock counts of 30 are normal.

Hmm, nice to know that knock counts normal. Must be a pretty good map :)

Will have to have a look at other reasons for low idle, because now i think about it, the PFC did idle better before. Must be a stray hose or something.

Cheers fivebob!!

I've run my slighlty modified map (less ign advance) for 10,000kms with no issues, drives as well as the stock ECU ;)

Out of interest, what is your setup? (turbo etc) Always nice to know what other MR2 turbo owners are running :)

The one with the PowerFC is completely standard, apart from a Blitz BOV which the previous owner fitted.

When I first put in my PowerFC it didn't start for the first 5 cranks, but then it's all sweet after that, I have no idea why, although when I changed injectors it does lack some power until I back my car out of the driveway and get it a tad warm (like 15 secs of warmup?), might be due to incorrect injector lag settings.

And PFC controls cold start as well. The base map is pretty sweet already but it could do with a tidy up with a proper tuner, but don't expect to pick up a whole lotta hp tho. One of the many reasons why I prefer PowerFC to any other ECU's out on the market for street tuned cars.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
