4afe vs Blacktop - Alsternator the same?

does anybody know if the blacktop 4age alternators will fit on a 4afe?

I doubt it as there are variances between most 4age models in alternator mounting points.

4AGE and 4AFE do not interchange,


However all 4age ( not Ze) are the same, inc RWD, 16V and 20V.
Only real differences are the round plug or the oval plug.

internals are the same but the outside housing differs

There are still variances between the 16v 4age ones. I had this issue a while ago and it was really annoying! - not sure what models are different.

then you must have had some non 4AGE alternators.

FWIW, 99% of toyota alternator are almost interchangable,

they almost all have the same foot width, and pulley to mount spacing,
the top adjuster varies on angle and the output stud location rotates,

but all original 4age ones are same mounting,
just the late ones are oval plug instead of round.

It was the top adjuster that didnt work whcih was different on the alternator.
