Car Storage in Palmy/Manawatu

Postby GX61 Mark II » Sun Mar 01, 2009 9:30 pm

Hey all, I am looking for somewhere to store my (1982) Mark II for a period of around 4 -5 months while I am overseas.

My Mark II which was once in pretty mint condition has suffered from a period of me being away and is starting to get some surface rust etc which I will look to get sorted once I am back in NZ.

I have had a search on Google but can't come up with too many (affordable) options for somewhere to store it.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of anyone with spare room in a garage or farm shed etc that would let me store it there cheapish? Needs to be fairly close to Palmy as I am lacking in WOFs.

Cheers,

Lochlan

There are lock ups just off Keith St, not sure what they charge per month though. They look to be big enough to store a car.

Cheers -

Those places seem to be pretty expensive but will hit them up tomorrow.

Was hoping someone would have a spare garage space, or a great idea for somewhere else!

Try Tim's storage lockup in Feilding. Use to have a shed there with one car in it cant remember what I paid for the shed tho, and the boss car sat around the back for $10.00 a week but it was exposed to the elements.

Don't think the shed was too expensive either though.

Small lockups on keith st say "from $50 a week". I guess that would be a low range, small place with no electricity or shelving etc. Normal storage places would be safer as well. Could try Kennards self storage on Jasper place (old fort knox).

I'll look after it for a few months for you :P . It would get rego, Wof and I'd care for the paint etc... Miss my GX61.

Could be keen... if you are coming on Wednesday night will have a chat then. It is in a pretty sorry state at the moment body wise. needs some TLC which I wanna give it once I get back. Took it for a drive yesterday and remembered why I love it so much.

Another plan was to take it to a panel shop and get them to work on it while I am away but can't really part with the cash right now - damn strong Japanese Yen!

@brad
Haha I got the shorter springs (ahem king springs) already if he wants to put them in again. wish I still had the wheels too.
