Tickled ones go well, though fuel economy doesnt improve at all.
Maybe try track down a 7K? Not tooooo much work to make one fit, and will give you a metric assload more low end torque.

not soo
4k have been broven to throw out some good hp numbers for push rod techo
they hold there own
have seen some 4/5k engines nail some big tarmac hill clumbs around the country

they hold there own

fuel economy is a joke, when you talking about engine swaps

put a diesel in it if you want fuel economy

yes soo....
4ks are not economical!

yes you can get power, but not economy.

putting a later model fuel injected engine in will do both

i dont have anything against carbs

or 4ks in general

just they suck at commuting in modern traffic on motorways!

fact is an SR20 will make more power while using less gas!

so fitting an SR20 into his ke70 will give it more power, make it more economical and a lot more comfortable!
if his main gripe is using a heap of fuel while trying to stay with the traffic flow in a daily driver, hotting up a 4k is not really th answer

as brad said 7k would work quite well though

i suspect he means in smoothness of the motor, starting easy due to ecu input for fuel/air ratios no matter the conditions, late model easy parts, usable power so no needa rev the tits off it etc...

oh i see
i thought he meant ride oh im sorry

so basilcy your going to be spending alot off money on a sr20 to slap into a ke70
so weighing everything up with prices of stuff now days and dont tell me its cheap because in hindsight every project snow balls into alot off money
engine
gearbox
custom drive shaft
fuel pumps
wiring
computer
custome engine mounts
cooling issues
fault finding
oh wait my suspension and brakes arint up to it and wont pass a cert

what would all this add up to a student wage???????

fuk wait
should have saved all that money and rather than pissed it all up against the wall on a engine transplant, i could have spent $350 on a 4k engine tickle incl carb tune etc and save myself ( said person ) a magor head ace and more money for other things

Hell even a 5K would be a good improvement, any extra CC's you can get at this end of the scale helps

It's already been established that this is not true (sr20 vs rb20)

I'd suggest that you just leave the car alone if you're on a budget. Or buy something else

it rather see and hot 4k or a high revving CA monster

 Omg you must be a living dyno machine. Just go with the SR20.

ANY Google searches will yield the SR the most favored, with genuine reasons backed by fact. Not just a "it feels better" test

glad someone said it. drive an sr20de silvia and then drive an rb20de skyline.......non turbo rb's don't even "sound better" so really the only advantage of having one is they're everwhere

FYI the SR20 makes MORE torque than the RB20 and it comes on EARLIER and doesn't fall off as dramatically as the rb ;) so you may want to calibrate your butt dyno slightly

unless its got nice extractors on it, rb's sound like @rse.

Why not just stick a 3SGE VVTi altezza engine and 6 cogger in it?

 Toyota owners, aside from the fact that you've listed half of the RBs - RB25s are good motors too.

+1 for SR

Yeah for this application I fully agree. If you were really lucky you could find an SR20DE from an Autech S15 which is a 200hp motor, that'd go exceptionally well.

The SR20DEs are only rated at 165hp which is on paper only the same as a 20v 4AGE - fortunately the SR20 actually makes that power so in reality the better option. Alloy block too...
