BZ-t Caribs ..

Postby wishihadaTE27 » Wed Mar 04, 2009 10:12 am

Looking at getting one of thses as a runner when i come back to nz later this year. It seems you either pay 10k for a sub 100k one or 4 -5 for one thats done 200k's +. Any comments on high km ones ?

Obviously assuming cam belt has been done twice etc etc usual servicing issues taken care of.. whats the verdict on them ?

Cheers

Dont think many people own carib bz-t's on here. Basically its a wagon version of the AE111 coupe so I imagine it has the same issues. I tend to hear that the blacktops use extra oil when there getting on.

Yeah i was leaning towards buying a sub 100k one but for 10k ....

Any suggestions on a reliable daily with some good grunt preferably na and not a coupe - not really a fan of the levin / mr2 styling.

Ideally in a perfect world ill pick up a 4age'd ke25sr but i havent seen a decent 25 on tardme for months now just heaps of 30's 35's and a few 20's :(

Yep blacktops can use oil, some more than others, some none.

Mine uses a bit, but I thrash the crap out of it most days and 5 years on its still going strong. Good motors if you keep them maintained imo.

I'm sure a BZ-T would be a nice enough wagon, although for 10k you may be able to stretch to a caldina GTT etc

Don't want to get your hopes up..... but ya never know this may still be for sale

Yeah i know the caldina is just a few thou more .. but to be honest im going to be at uni and its gonna be better for my wallet to have a non turbo vehicle - both because i have a heavy enough foot as it is and because i dont really want to be buying a turbo thats done 140 thou odd kays plus without having the intention of rebuilding it at some stage which wont really be an option being poor :P

Ive had my eye on that 25 .. but again for the same reasons as above i think until ive finished my masters ( 2 years ) im gonna avoid anything turbo, tho its is f*#king hot...

Also i forgot to mention i wont be home until October haha so i doubt it will still be for sale then anyway !

nothing wrong with a bzt with a few km's on it.

as long as you check the oil once a month and do oil changes when they are due, they are fine.

We've had our for about 5 years, and it uses a bit of oil,
but not what i'd call excessive,
and it gets driven quite hard all the time.

Have put a set of front discs's on it an a few sets of tyres,
oil changes and that's about it for 5 years.

i had mine until just before christmas, only sold it due to needing something more suitable for work.
had it for 4 years and only had to do the usual maintenance items... tyres, service etc. Got it on 43,000km sold it on 180,000. When it got to around 90k the oxy sensor went but thats it.
Awesome wagon in my opinion!

Keep an eye out for an AT210 Carina GT like mine... they come with the blacktop 20v 4age and from 98- they have the 6spd. Mine is only 5spd tho and they are pretty rare.
