7agte building

Postby gleem » Mon Mar 02, 2009 9:32 pm

I have a spare blacktop head, 7afe block and some odd turbo parts. So obviously these all go together nicely. The question is what can a stock 7afe bottom end handle power and psi wise? and also are there any low cost swaps gor these like ze pistons etc. I can see theres a size difference in rods etc and if anybody has any advise on possible problems etc, thanks

Not much, 7AFE rods are pretty spindly.

Not that I've heard about, you could see what other motor has a similar stroke and try find a rod that has the same big end and pin height
Otherwise Spool rods arent too badly priced.

there are a lot of rumours of different rods working,

some honda models, GTX mazda, Even GSR Lancer,

but none are simple and all require machining.

I tried through most of the rumoured to fit one and never found anything.

and the 7a's I had apart were late model ones and the rods are still
way too weak looking.

I ended up with ARGO rods in mine.

Dad got them direct when he was over there working.

Just get the spool rods, only $550!! friken cheap.
How good they are though.. no idea..

As I always say, if your gona build a 7agte you better save up some cash. Everyone things it will be cheap to build but as you build you will need to do a alot more than you think.
