AE101 FXGT Blacktop - need gearbox upgrade

Postby alamo » Mon Mar 09, 2009 6:09 pm

I have an AE101 FXGT with a Blacktop engine conversion. Today the factory gear box blew 2nd, 4th and reverse so I need some info about an upgarde.

I'm thinking of going for one out of an AE101 4AGZE with LSD? Are there any other factory LSD boxes I could use for this application?

Get a later C56 from an AE111. E series have quite wide ratios, not suited to a 20v torque curve at all.
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

Was LSD optional on this model? What model's would this box have been in... Levin, Tureno, (Carib ?)...

Can't find the thread at the mo but Rev had posted a thread with alot of info on what boxes had lsds in them and maybe even the ratios. Super strut models i think have lsds in them. Also been told the 5 speed boxes are stronger than the 6 speed ones

Yup, BZ-V's had LSD standard. You'll find it in an AE111 model that has a blacktop in it ;)

C56-04C. Found in AE111s that came factory fitted with Superstrut suspension. The "C" means LSD.

C56-04A is the open diff version.
