Just done a trackday around taupo. Had problems with it overheating which i kept an eye on the whole day. Replaced the thermostat afterwards.

Ive plugged a laptop into the link g3 to get a more accurate idea. From cold, sits around 90 for a while, which is cool. But when going for a drive (100deg), then stopping it creeps up. 110, then bordering on 120 before i started moving again and cranked the heater up. Then it dropped back down to 105. Single fan is coming on at ok time.

i had the same issue, but mine was due to the fan not running and im still using the factory tourer s radiator which is a heck of a lot smaller

you were detonating or something silly like that?

Im not one to get offended :lol:

Ive dropped the whole contents of fluid when doing the thermostat, and topped it up. How do i know there is no air locks or anything?

Make sure you change the fluid with the radiator cap or filler cap as high as possible. Generally this means jacking the front of the car way in the air.

Best way is to cut the bottom of a 2.25 liter coke bottle, put tape around the top of it so its a nice fit and wedge it into the top of the radiator filler. Turn engine on and get it up to operating temp. Turn heater on hot and make sure you keep the coke bottle about half full or more. After a few mins you'll see bubbles in the coke bottle. I like to squeeze the radiator hoses and tap them with my hands to help the bubbles find their way UP to the top of the radiator and coke bottle......

When i done it i waited untill all the bubbles around the radiator filler stopped and was just normal green flowing water, which leads me to believe it will already be bled....

going by those temps either your radiator isn't upto the task or its partially blocked.
At race speed around a track unless you are following another car closely for a lot of the time you shouldn't really see above 95

nice trick with the coke bottle, plenty of cars have cunty rad hoses that are on a very similar level to the cap.

squeezing hoses etc helps too, you can often feel / hear gurgling noises that indicate air is still in the system somewhere

Solved, my error. Needed to move fan to other side of radiator because inlet and outlet are on same side. Not ideal, but temps are good now.

when you're going around a track, or on the open road at anything above about 40kph you get more airspeed thru the radiator than a fan will provide......

I think what he is meaning is that moving the fan will probably have no effect at anything more than 40kmh,

so dont count on that being the problem, unless you had it blowing the wrong way.

Out of interest, what radiator and fan are you running? Ive got an alloy radiator but no fan currently.

Turns out what was running ok yesterday, is getting hot again today. Boy do i feel like an ass. :oops:

I think why this radiator isnt efficient is because the inlet is on the top left, and the outlet is on the bottom left.

I'll try sticking 2 fans on it, before i modify the bottom outlet to the right hand side

shouldnt be difficult to modify it on a RWD anyway

If it gets hot while driving at more than 40K,
the more fans you put on it the worse it will get.

A fan cant blow air through the radiator faster than it flows through while driving, so WTF will more fans do except cause a restriction.

Sounds like another blown headgasket to me.... they all do it, just a matter of time.

Wondered this. Its not loosing any water though, or bubbling in radiator. And oil is fine, not milky.

Matt, before the trackday, it had to fans on it. And never overheated. When it was getting hot on the day, i took one off because i thought it might be impeding the air flow.

It doesnt have much of a air inlet in the bumper, no grill or anything so they are a pretty crap design
