im looking at one of these as a swap for my notchback ae85 any common issues/areas i should look for issues?

well, just all the usual old thrashed car things....
and stuffed ICV. you'll spot that easy as it will be surging at idle
and noisy supercharger

They're FWD, its a common failing amongst modern Toyotas

Other than that, they're pretty solid, just look for the usual wear and tear type things.

pre-89 look for rust in rear parcel shelf (pull up carpet and stick you head in the boot), top of windscreen and around rear lights.

Could be AFM or MAP.

Ask about fuel consumption. They can use a whole tank for 250k's normal driving if oxygen sensor or knocksensor is stuffed (both Dstrb and I have had this issue).

2nd and 3rd gear syncro's.

thats for that alas they do suffer from fwd how fast are these things in stock trim? how much boost is standard?

They make around 100kw-110kw's atw, but torque is the real winner. Depends if AFM or MAP.

Not sure on standard boost. Mine has never been standard :lol:

EDIT: but probably about 8psi.

FWD is not a problem, good suspension and decent tyres will make even a non lsd one perform well.

I used to have a modified MAP 4agze AE86 and I have more fun driving my Turbo GTZ even if it is FWD :wink:

have seen a few rust around the boot as well, under the rubber seal. well worth lifting that for a look.

they feel fast-ish but they arent, and single spinner is ftl.

oh yeah rust under rear screen and parcel shelf
open the boot and look up under the rerar screen
also around rear tail lamps

and also on some check for wet front carpets, sign of rusting out of the innder guard where the runoff from the cowl drips

My supercharger clatters a lot when its not at full boost.
It sounds like a bad sound. Is this a sign of a wearing supercharger?
The supercharger oil is full, and its of a clear colour.

Does it mean that my Corolla needs a new s/c clutch soon?
You can definitely feel it when it bites.
Its also a bit annoying cause my engine mounts are a bit worn, so it shakes quite abit when its engaging/dissengaging

well i got it and my god is it goood to have some power again after a 3au need bigger wheels (on steelies) and they just light up way to easy and lsd box mmmm so good
