Window urothane? Black Sticky Stuff!

Heya all

Working on my project, but how the @$% do you get that black sticky urothane stuff off the paint from around the edge of the rear windows?
Its horrible!

Acetone works pretty good, just be careful though, it might damage the paint.

I used it to clean it off on my car. It doesn't look like anything happened to the paint but I'd rather you didn't blame me if something went wrong

Depends if you can damage the paint or not... I used a grinder on my starlet :lol:

Still took a while, but it was easier to remove when it was cold, just used a scraper. The warmer it is the more of a c**t it is to get off.

Yea its getting a full panel and paint, i have a brokn leg atm so i cant get far, dont even have a legal car anymore.

yeah just get it on a rag and work on a small area at a time, mine came out looking as if the black shit was never there

wire brush on angle grinder. Wear dust mask though, smells kinda funky and makes the garage turn into blue smoke

Or use WEP? from paint shops, its the active ingredient in paint, and is a very close relative to acetone.

Problem being like all things in this category (acetone, WEP, nailpolish remover, thinners), it will eat paint.

Have you tried a citrus degreaser or [pure] simply green, its more effort but leaves the paint

Like I said, my paint never came off...It will take waay more effort to remove the paint with acetone that it will to get the black stuff off, basically unless you're a munt and just keep on going for hours after you've removed the goo, you won't mess it up.

I just used petrol in the end! worked great, just scraped most of the stuff off first then rubed. mint

Then went to finish it off with the sander, and my mouse sander broke
