i did search on the net, and everytime it comes back into relation to the rwd water piping system. or converting a 16v dli to work with factory ecu, i want to know whats involved to run aftermarket ecu

i have read u canb run no cap and run dizzy as a cas, but unsure if pickups etc need to be made?

You can just run the dizzy as the cas, its just a magnetic reluctor interface. Then you just gota make sure the ECU has the interface to work with a toyota 4age 20v magnetic multi tooth setup.

Easy as that.

Fairly sure matt dunn on here has done it, theres pics in his project thread.

Use a pair of evo 1-3 wasted spark coil packs or similar, they take the standard HT lead plug so you would need some new leads.

Remove the dizzy cap and rotor from the dizzy and get a cap machined up to cover it and it (should) clear the firewall.

Im not sure if you use the evo ignitor or link ignitor, I think I read something about getting a weak spark using the evo ignitor with the link (could have been an old LEM though).

Yeah i did it.

If you have a link then 90% of the hard part is done.

Use a dual channel igniter, either mitsi or link,
just not a toyota one as they are not compatable,

and some double ended coils, mitsi or similar.

Then it's just a matter of setting it up in the link.

You siad G4 so it will run it all fine.

Run the dist with or without a cap or cover if you want,
makes no difference to the running of it,
just need to keep stones and fingers out of the pickup.

HT leads are the only problem.
I converted the std leads to suit, but you need to mount the coils right there to do it.

hey,

cheers for help~~ yeah i have already aquired a mitsi ignitor and have some new evo bosch coils from when i was going to run 16v with crank angle set up,

i juts thought mayb you need a pick up for it to know which position the distributor is in, but sounds like it has pick ups built into the dizzy,

so is it just a matter of wiring it correctly from the pin outs on the distributor?

cheers for help

Hi

Did you have any problem with the dizzy and thermostat housing hitting the firewall, (this is for an ae86) Just finished building turbo blacktop, would like to know if this is an issue before i put the engine in.

thanks

Apparently the dizzy will fit without the cap/rotor but the t/stat housing is an issue.
