1jz-ge no spark - anyone in waikato good with 1j's ?

Postby docTRD » Tue Mar 31, 2009 1:03 pm

hey all ive just finished putting a 1jz-ge and auto from a jx90 into a gx71 cressida and ive wired it all up using factory diagrams etc. this is my 2nd cressida project but last one was a 1ggte.
its got fuel but no spark from the plugs, have done the basic test against an earth when cranking, nothing.

Have checked B+ and earths to ecu etc and main efi relay is working, just seems like ive missed an input to the ecu or something? maybe from the auto ?

if anyone knows much about 1j/2j engines and is close Id be very grateful for some help. cheers

im not sure aye, is that the Ne signal? shouldnt it be already wired up in the engine loom? goes to the ecu i think. hmmm might haveto check that.
any thing else that i might have missed?
which wires do you need to get the engine going then I can check from there.

hey strx7 yeap getting a signal from the dizzy to the ecu, its around 200mv.
Also checked the wire that is called "IGF , RPM 1" from the ecu, output to ignitor ? had 5V on it.
Wire called RPM 2 had no voltage on it, not sure if its used on a non turbo 1j.
any ideas ?

also Im running a speedo cable into the auto instead of the electronic sensor as the cressida has a cable driven speedo in the cluster, the lack of the electronic plug being on the sensor would that stop it from firing up? just a thought.

nope thats just the SPD sensor, mine still isnt hooked up after 6 months, all that happens is the CEL (check eng light) comes on occasionally when going over 80kmh.

have you got power to the coil and ignitor ?

all i do when haxxing up looms is bypass all the relays and just supply power to the ecu/coil/ignitor/fuel pump and works everytime :P
