theres only certain sizes made in diferent countries, and cant remember them all, but 215/45/17 gsd3 is china made, 235/40/18 CAN be australian made

and thats all i can remember for now,

i havnt driven hard on the new gsd3 asymetricals yet but i have driven 2 diferent cars with them fitted, but they are SUPER quiet and very responsive, and will be technically superior to the sweep design of the old gsd3. im unsure of the sizes availble currently but the are very good tyres and worth the money

i have the australian made ones here in stock 235 40 18


r888 is a track tyre it is the controll tyre for the rx7 series as well i have not had any track time on them yet as my car has had its fair share of problems, i know barry has used them on the track.

You are much better off running old v8 slicks are they are about an eigth the price.
Dunlop 03g's (any compound) are far superior to R888's at the track.

i have the australian made ones here in stock 235 40 18

A lot of the RX7 guys are complaining about the R888s, some even say RA1's were better.

Agreed. Those ex NZV8 slicks are so cheap you can get a set for the cost of one semi most of the time.

Yes but Dunlop 03gs are a good amount more to buy brand new. For the price RA1s and R888's are great.

Regarding the old V8 slicks - I would prefer semi-slicks for the trackdays I do due to some of them being in damp conditions - and also I would have a sh*t of a time finding old V8 slicks in 205/50 R15 and 205/50 R16 which are the two sizes I run - V8 stuff is usually 235+ and in 17 and 18".

Trade me. Only problem is you can only get them in the one size. 240/625R17. Well thats the only size i've seen em in.

Have brought two sets of Eagles in the last 4 months. One in 225/40R18 and the other in 235/45R17. Both sets were made in Aussie.

They are made in germany at this stage still, the new asymetical one is not available here in nz yet

Both seem to hold very well so far, one set was abused on a wet track too.
(And both on Mitsis not barges :lol: )

Well I finally had to make a decision & get two new tyres for my wof. I went with the RE001 over the Sport Maxx in the end as they worked out about $40 a tyre cheaper.
My first impressions from them are very good. Actually I'm pleasantly surprised. I haven't had this much grip in the wet since my Michelin Pilot Precedas on the AE111. They just grip & go. I haven't been able to make them break traction as yet, but I will keep trying :mrgreen: It's only been one day.

Got a set of re001's for the corolla last weekend and i'm really pleased with them. The only complaint is roadnoise over coarse chip roads. But definately grip well in cornering :D

I have a set of the new GSD3 Asymetrics on the Supra, 245's and 265's

I can confirm they are made in Germany, at least for now. The grip is soooo good, and a bonus I found is that they are very quiet as well. I can only compare them to the horrible tyres that came on the stock wheels though.

The wet grip is supposed to be very good too but I havn't tested this.


The only downside I have experienced is the low level of grip on mud. :lol: Actually, I found it to be quiet a fun upside that day.
