lacking in 4age know how...

Postby trd_chik » Thu Apr 16, 2009 9:43 pm

wondering if anyone knows what gearbox a 20v 4age usually has (i should kno lol but i dont!!!)
as im possibly getting a levin off a friend but it needs a new gearbox.
trying to gauge an idea of what they are worth to see if its worth the hassle.
comments welcome :)

Yes they are strong but the gears are way too long for a 4age, it would sap the life out of it. They need short ratio gears.

4agze = E51/E58

E series boxes got used in the celicas and so on too. i believe the mr2 ones need some fiddling with shifter linkages etc but someone else will be able to confirm that.

but as rev noted not suitable for NA 4ages, the jump from 2nd to 3rd in particular is big. plus they are heaps heavier than C boxes
