What pads are you running now?

Oh I just did a custom brake install lol
Put on some big 300mmx30mm rotors and wilwood calipers.
But feel as if I need to go to 330mm rotors next.

330mm is pretty massive - how much do you weigh in at?

If you're serious about dropping your laptimes have a look at RaceChrono which connects to a bluetooth GPS device and provides all sorts of very accurate speed/timing info. You can even match the data recorded with your in car video.

Here's a trace from a lap in my bog standard starlet, think this was the second time I'd been:

The GPS was a huge help for me, last time I had a clean test day I got down to pretty much exactly your laptime running 6psi of boost

around 1100kg. But FWD uses alot of front bias and only a tiny bit of rears!

Why does FWD matter what the bias is?

As a guess - because all of the weight is over the front wheels, and when you brake weight shifts forward, therefore massive amount of weight at the front and basically nothing at the back = rear brakes do nothing at all, front brakes do all the work.

All cars matter what the bias is!

And yes what postfach said is correct.
My rears barely work, I recon they are on 10-20% rears.

haha - I know that - I meant why more for FWD as opposed to RWD or 4WD

A higher percentage of the weight is over the front axle in a FWD compared to anything RWD/AWD.

In the Mini I used to crew on we had 10.5" (268mm) discs with Willwood Superlite 4 pots on the front. Standard drum mechanicials on the back with finned drums (Minifins). A tilton proportioning pedal box at max front (IIRC 75% front, 25% rear) and still ran a 80% block valve inline with the rear brakes to stop lockups. :)

Mind you static weight distribution was something like 79/21 F/R with a full tank of fuel as we ran a beam rear end on it. :)

Heavily edited video from my incar camera. Started with about 1 hour, left the more interesting bits.
LOOK FOR
- cressida spinning in front of me at Castrol
- me catching up to Honda S2000 under brakes at both ends of the track
- at the very end of the clip... one of the Slipway Boys (Evan I think in 1UZ powered MarkII) spinning behind me at castrol (look in the mirror).

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Just got myself that RaceChrono for my N82 with built in GPS. I'm going to try it out at the street sprint this weekend and see how accurate the N82 GPS is when compared with the official timing. An awesome toy for free for your symbian/windows mobile phone.
