any ra28 forsale?

Postby frost » Sat Apr 18, 2009 1:48 am

are there any RA28 celica's for sale in NZ? or am i pushing poo up hill.
just seeing how hard it would be to obtain one. complete or in bits(good condition bits)
there was a rally special forsale at a local vintage cars shop but that sold for really REALLY silly money. old man stopped bidding at just silly money.
we've been looking but cant find sh1t. nothing on tardme, not even parts.
me/the old man, really wants one. im thinking midnight black with a 1uz style. i just go weak at the knees when i see pictures or them.

quite a few in ozzy but none in nz? not sold here?

There aren't any for sale at the moment that i know of.
I try to keep tabs on ones that are for sale :D
I have owned 7 of them in the past, still have my TA22 coupe and rare TA27 liftback. They come up on the odd occasion on trademe, just a matter of waiting. I know of 18 of them and at a guess there are only 20-25 liftbacks left in NZ.

if he could find one in aus it would possibly be eligible for compliance under the new special interest vehicle scheme

You could probably bring it over as a private import anyway

Manufactured before 1990 you don't have to meet emissions standard
http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/publications/in ... -2-08.html

Over 20 years old does not need Front impact compliance
http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/publications/in ... html#mcfrc

But, as always, check with the compliance center you are going to use to get the vehicle complied as the buck stops there.

Also, if you do get a vehicle make sure you get the de-reg papers or some other official paperwork as proof of ownership (not stolen)

if its been registered in your name for 2+ years in aus you can possibly comply it as part of a residents visa type situation

im not sure how that applies to returning ex-pats would take some investigating

1977 Toyota Celica ( RA 28 ) 98,000mls recond 18RG engine, close ratio 5 spd. WOF/Reg. Tidy orig cond. Heaps of spares, rare car, Nelson. $14,995. Ph 03 545 1898.

This was advertised in NZ Classic Car last year, probably fair to assume that it sold, but you could contact the seller & see if they had contact details for the current owner.

Theres a lot more to it than temperature. If its been in a humid location rust could be bad.

Just look at some of the old imports we used to get from singapore
