I'm not a big subbie fan (unless its late model JDM track stlye) but looks pretty nice - has potential!

EDIT: haha don't bother going for another 5speed, use some of that left over coin on a 6speed box!

Well you wont get too much depreciation. But you might have to pay a bit in repair bills.

Now go and invest the rest of the $13k you hadto buy a car before you spend it on the car!

Why the hell would you buy a Legacy???? I love how they say it has all these STi bits, when STi wasn't even formed until 93 or so....
For not that much more you could have bought my WRX, and had actual genuine STi boltons
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

i brought it because i have always loved the old legacy shape and there are not many nice ones around as compared to the wrx's which are very common :)

Everyone likes cars for different reasons :)

Sure it's not an "STI" version or whatever but it does look to be in very good condition and very original too so good buy in my opinion.
Just go easy on the gearbox and look out for the odd electrical problem and you should be fine.
Like someone else said it won't depreciate and like you said you haven't got massively in debt over a car so I think you did go with your brain on this one, congratulations.

There were STI versions of the old 1st gen RS leggys. They were the RS type RA models. This doesnt appear to be one, but i could be wrong (dont care much for the old leggys, much prefer my GTB).

It has the STI stickers on the doors, but it doesnt have the gold IC, or wind up windows like the RA ones should.

Looks pretty tidy. As long as you look after it, it should look after you.

What's it like to drive? I've always liked the old Legacy's myself too but one thing that I've always wondered about is why some of them have black intercoolers and some have silver intercoolers?
Quite a good article about these cars below

they drive really well actually... difficult to describe, basically like a softer wrx but with a wider viewing angle through the front window, larger rear seats and a MASSIVE boot, they are cruisers not racers really but as the article suggests they are deffinatly not slow, to be honest all I have planned for this one is to respray the alloys to factory bronze and do a nice sound install and then just maintain it and enjoy the boxer rumble which I can assure you is even more pure that the wrx noise :P

Dont know if it quite fits the oldschool bill but I always liked these old leg's.

Probably not a bad buy, engine bay looks good and unmolestered but a steam clean can work wonders.
