Compression Test Done Resultss

Postby MR2BOY23 » Mon May 04, 2009 6:41 pm

Just did a compression test at work yesterday on my mr2 3sge

All 4 cylinders were around 180psi, im pretty sure this is a good reading ? Correct me if im wrong. But my car does blow some smoke after like 5000rpm and goes through around a litre of oil a month its not leaking any oil either

Thanks

Worn oil control rings.
What colour is the smoke?
Could be worn valve stem seals as well.

So white smoke doesn't indicate something other than what blue smoke would indicate?

Or are they the same thing rings/stem seals etc

Well water doesnt do anything other than flow around things... If your using water it must be getting into the system... have someone follow you can make SURE it is white smoke... may just LOOK white in your mirrors..

White smoke could be from leaky exhaust valve stem seals (oil+hot but not igniting). It also could be a mixture of of unburned oil + blue (burned oil).
Also white could be unburned fuel (leaky injectors), but that is highly unlikely as it would run like shit and consume enormous amount of fuel.
Also lots of fuel = apparent increase of oil level (due to oil being diluted).
