sorry mate, there are many real world examples that show a pod on an otherwise stock 20v is a backwards step.
even if you do a proper cold air box.
ducting to the stock airbox would be a good idea.

also 2.25 is the max you want on one (stock size) the stock headers are also very good, quite hard to improve on. its the 2-1 section that needs improving. rest of exhaust is pretty good stock.

maybe some other cars you can add a pod and intake to get a small gain. but not these ones.

The entire 2-1 section, replacing the factory flexi and all? Or from after the factory flexi and up over the crossmember?

Thought so - need to do this myself and thought be best to check first.
Don't know of anyone that has changed this and done a before and after dyno run to check for gains? Or just "noticed" the improvement? When i get round to it might try G-Tech'ing before and after

out of interest, is an FGK header a 4-2 or 4-1 section?

FGK. Very nice.

4-2-1.
The 2-1 section also has a much nicer portion that goes over the crossmember.

Yes the FGK ones are 4-2-1, i think only HKS or Apexi made 4-1.

Like crampy said, the 2-1 section actually sites underneath the crossmember...and I am finding now that it scraps now and then when I go over some ridicuously high speed bumps around Botany.

Nevertheless..only ever heard good things about the FGK headers. And the exhaust too (non-N1 style) is also very quiet in the inside!

I have APEXI 4-1 it creates nice flat spot in between 3.5krpm and 6krpm (or it has two peaks there).

I would say trademe is your best bet, might take a while for them to pop up though.

I would be wary of anything being sold that is 'custom' made.

I got mine from ST-Hitec in Auckland for $1200 including shipping and fitting, but that was when the exchange rate was still good.

Try 41 our sponsor, maybe they can source you some.

Otherwise try your luck at wreckers, and the odd one do come up on trademe for under $500, but make sure they come with the 2-1 section too, otherwise is not worth it. I've seen ppl trying to just sell the 4-2 section for crazy money. But really, the 2-1 section will give you the greatest improvement in my opinion.

If thats too much coin for you, just use the standard 4-2 section, and get the 2-1 section done with flexi (cheap way), or a complete section re-made, because if you jack up your car, you will see this really squish 2-1 section just around the crossmember.

I fluked getting mine on Trademe. I haven't really seen them come up very often.
They're like those rare as rocking horse $hit Mines computers for 20V's. I'd love to get one of those, but there aren't any around.

i use an intercooler on a na setup to get the most benifit from cold air with a pod mounted in a box with direct access to atmophere also an intake system requires a volume of static (still/not moving) air to get the most benifit

for example try sticking your head out of your car when you are driving and breathing in, contrary to what you think this is harder than when you are breathing in static air, this is because air likes to flow in a linear fashion
and if its swirling around violently its harder for your engine to suck it in

the only posible benifit any air filter has over another is its area, matrial and the type of oil and weather or not it has oil

Sorry for the huge bump, but I was wondering if you can clean the stock air filter that comes with the Blacktops?? Or is it better to just buy a new one

Thanks.

New one is only like $20.
Buy a new one.
Better yet, spend $100 and buy a K&N
