Apexi RSM + G-Sensor setup...

Postby jondee86 » Thu May 07, 2009 12:11 pm

I have installed the RSM (blue model) and G-Sensor, and both are
working as far as I can see. Readout gives positive and negative G´s
and max power reading.

But I have not been able to work out how to get the meter into `Ghost
Trace` mode and customise the coast down decel curve. If anyone has
got a handle on how to set this up, I would appreciate it if you could give
me a heads up.

I can access the coast down graph, only so far I have not been able to
get the thing to record coast down values.

Cheers... jondee86

from memory, once you are in the first screen, you need to push 'down' once, and it should start recording...

then you drive to about 120k, and just let your lift your foot off the accelator, and let the clutch gradually slow your car down. The idea of that is to factor in the power loss caused by your drive train.

I will have to go home and see how to get it work again...i remember it took me a while to figure it out.

Thanks bud. From memory the manual says knock it into neutral, as
you don`t want engine braking. But getting the thing to record is the
issue right now. The stock curve seems to be for a Chaser, which is
bound to be a bit different from a Corolla.

Right now it says I have 132 whp... which would be nice :)

i had a problem with my rsm, sometimes the top speed would be a few ks higher than actual speed (for example if you reset the top speed)

also, sometimes the top speed would read something silly like 1059kph

any idea what wouldve been causing that?

Faster than a speeding bullet...

Postby jondee86 » Sat May 09, 2009 9:22 am

The gauge only takes a speed pulse and an rpm input for calculating.
Once you have the wheel diameter correction dialled in, it should be
spot on accurate (being fully digital). My speedo reads 10kmh fast at
50kmh true road speed, but I calibrated the gauge against those
digital readouts on poles provided by the Council :)

Oddball readings are most likely due to some sort of electronic glitch
such as a sticking contact. So far I haven´t had any strange readings,
but since my gauge is a well used unit, it may well give me a few
surprises when I have a bit more driving time clocked up.
