Distributor fault?

Postby DriftSpecStarlet » Sat May 16, 2009 5:17 pm

I unbolted the dizzy from the head and turned the key to ignition
Spun the part thats connected to the cam and there was no spark or injectors "ticking"

I left the leads and plugs connected and dizzy plug and coil hooked up

not sure, but the dizzy MIGHT need to be bolted to the block so that its earthed before it will provide a spark.

No it doesn't, it should work without the body earthed,

but wouldn't say that's a good dist test anyway.

Could still be lack of power to the ECU,
Bad ECU earths, and a few other faults.

A faulty Dist will almost always put in a fault code,
so check that first.

yeah, lol

Igniter cases must be earthed, but dist sensors are insulated from the body.

the light should come on with the key on and engine not running,
if the dist is ok or not.

if no light, then it is a supply to the ecu, or ecu problem usually.
