ditch the factory solenoid, get a manual boost controller atleast. what boost level you looking for and what spring is the external set at ?

yeah im goin to get a manual boost tap for it lookn to run 10psi which is what im runnin now but the guy i got the car off didnt mount the wastegate in the middle of the manifold he put it on the side of it so its only runnin on 1 of the exhaust ports and it sounds like crap when it opens

External wastegates with screamers always sound lame on CT9's compared to bigger turbos. I doubt changing its location is going to help much.

you need to find out what the spring is or atleast hook it up to a vacuum source and see what boost it runs, if you really do need to use the two stage controller i guess you can wire it up but everyone ditches it as it doesnt work too well anyways.

Has the ct9 still got the original gate untampered with on it?? You could always jsut hook that back up with a line straight from the manifold and disconnect the external, think they held shut untill pressure from the manifold opens the spring. Either that or its the other way round, been ages sine i looked at one cant remember
Dont they geneally only run 12psi by taking the 2 stage controller out of the line altogether - i dont mean open boosting but i thought that if you had a line directly off your manifold to the waste gate actuator on the original ct9 it ran 12 - well thats been my experince with them anyway.
Of course the only issue with this is that you wont be able to run less than the sping is good for.
Does anyone know how those two stage solenoids worked, seemed to be low boost untill about 5000rpm then would go to whatever the higher boost was - on all the starlets ive seen this happens so wondering what it actually does to hold boost low, must find some extra ressure from somewhere to partly open the gate??

ok i mite try run a hose from the turbo to the wastegate and see what happens the actuator has been welded shut but its onl a tack shud be able to cut it off the external has got a 10psi spring in it if it had been mounted in the rite place id leave it
