I have an oil leak coming from the VVT controler that fits onto the head next to the headers. I changed the o-ring seal but when I was doing one of the bolts up that holds the bracket on, the bolt broke off in side the head. What should I do? It's still leaking oil as well...

could drill it out and hellicoil it or use an ezi out?

Yeah might have to drill it.

hammer on a torx socket.i don't like easy outs as well, i have one stuck in my head lol. cylinder head that is. once you break them your screwed.

Then you're using the wrong ones. There are more than just that one deisgn also. Snap On ones work depending on the situation and if you don't break them. The ones shown above can work well but generally on larger bolts where you can get a decent bite into them

2nded. quality has a detrimental effect on result. i find old school american brands to behave, as well as P+N from aussie.

I find they work better if you can drill right through the bolt (not always possible) and also as big as possible - this is limited by how well centred you drill the initial hole - this allows you to use the fattest possible part of the ezi out and give it the best leverage, BUT - means that the shell of the bolt can expand if you wedge it in too far - its a tightrope!

We use the Snapon ones at work, never had a problem, I've yet to see one break or not do its' job, even with Titanium fasteners. Those little thin ones as per the pic are pretty crap though, had a couple snap off, not fun getting the broken tip out!

If you are good with the drill, you can drill out dead centre with drill bit 0.1mm smaller than the drill bit required to tap that thread. Then what you have left is very skinny thread leftover from bolt that can be removed with flat screwdriver. You have to be very straight and centre.
That is how I do it anyway.
Another option if you have some meat left on the bolt (even 0.2mm sticking out) you could make a slit with dremel cutoff disks for a flat screw driver to try and unscrew the leftovers (chances are the bolt is slightly tighter than finger tight).

easy outs can work,
i have mixed sucess with them,
if the remainder of the bolt is sticking out or not to deep ie 2-5mm it can be welded, i often weld a nut on and undo it while hot.
