Postby CelicaGT8 » Wed Jun 03, 2009 7:55 pm

Im tryin to cut my silly rail off, i cut the doner one off with a massive reciprocating saw, so when it came cutting the old one off i got this silly reciprocating saw from mitr10, its so crap, i did most of whats in the pics in 5 mins with a haksaw

Does anyone have a big one i can use?

Im using a metal cutting blade with quite small teath... like a hacksaw. The main prob is that it just doesnt have the power.

I was going to use a grinder, but i was thinking it would be better to use the saw, more accurate, altho im seriously considering it.

You'll do most of it with a grinder, but there are spots that you might not reach... Thats where the saber comes in.

Even good battery power tools get drained fast with recip saws, corded is better for home jobs imo. I use a black and decker jigsaw all the time, mains power never runs out or lacks power

Yea i should have gone for corded, but the cost... Ill prob try and return it hehe.
Anyway, got the rail off, used grinder with prob a 2mm blade - all i had. Did the job quite well, just got to tidy it up and do some more measurments before cutting the new one.

Thanks for the help, next time i wont cheap out on power tools... yea i will
