TRD Black Brake Pads - AE111

Postby Kittah » Mon Jun 15, 2009 1:19 pm

Hey guys,

I'm looking at the application list for TRD Black brake pads, and for AE111 it has two part numbers listed, * 04491-AEA51 and 04491-AE100. I'm just wondering if both fit, or if there's something I'm missing.

Cheers :)

The footnotes don't apply to it. There's a note indicating what the asterisk means, above:

Attention) Brake pad "Black", which material is 3410F, is marked with "*".

But I have no idea what that means.

Think they both fit,
difference is the compound...

I'm not paying $200 for them :P

Cheers guys, seems there's not entirely a consensus as to whether they fit. I assume they do, from the chart, though it's not totally clear I guess... I was more worried because going from ae111.co.uk only the AE100 ones fit, which seems odd, with the chart.

Doing a more in-depth Google search I've found out the 3410F bit is the material used in the pads which may or may not be suitable for certain rotors (?) but that doesn't tell me whether or not they fit :(

EDIT:

Yeah, which makes me wonder what the difference is between them.

Yes they'll both fit. The difference is a heat range.
The AE100 will be fine for most applications.

i used to put semi decent pads etc in my cars (lucas etc) but just recently i decided to put something really decent in a gtst skyline i had at the time. so i got some bendix ultimates, which retail for ~$200.

the difference in stopping power was incredible, i was highly impressed. will be using the same in any future street cars i own!

Cheers for that. What's the difference in terms of heat range between the AE100 and the AEA51? I'm looking at some AEA51 pads for somewhat cheap, so I'm wondering if they're also "fine for most applications".

Totally agree. IMO it's so worth spending a couple of hundy on a set of good pads. And some fluid. Considering how long they last the cost per km is real low. If not Bendix ultimates then one of the mintex range are good too (I'm sure the TRD ones are as well but haven't tried them myself). Last thing you want is for your cheap pads to overheat and fade and make you crash.
