LS400 Camber/Toe bolts flat-top cam?

Postby gmacrae » Sun Jun 14, 2009 11:23 pm

Howzit people. I've run out of adjustment for camber and toe on my LS400. The annoying thing is the adjuster bolts with the cam washer have a flat-top on the cam. If the top of the cam was rounded off, I'd have more ability to get the alignment in spec.

Does anyone know of a replacement set of camber/toe bolts that might give me the round cam washer i'm after? I assume the bolts dimensions are pretty common through the toyota/lexus range.

Cheers

both are the same basically. Stuck with a tiny bit of toe out (roughly 1mm each side) and minimum of about 2.5mm neg camber. The combination is killing tyres fairly quick :(

I replaced all 4 UCA's, the whole car is definitely tighter and it helped the alignment slightly but still a bit out. The rest of the bushes are in good shape. I want the ability to run a couple mm (total) toe in, and about 1.5deg neg camber.

2.5 mm camber or degrees ? :?
2.5 degrees sounds very excessive just for lowering ? what else have you done ? you could get aftermarket camber bolts from autolign but im not the biggest fan of these , it would be much better to make adjustable top plates for it 8) sounds crazy also that you cant get any more toe out of it , are you sure they arent the wrong rack ends ?

Didn't think top plates helped a great deal for double wishbone setups?

Yep double wishbone so top plates cant make a difference.

2.5degrees camber is where its at, i've seen worse but its not a dirty old drift pig and i wanna get it driving/riding right.

The toe tie-rods are stock, but shorter ones would definitely sort the problem... damn i wish we had a pick-a-part here

For your camber you need a negitive camber arm to get more negitive camber out of your adjustment

this is a bad example ( pic ) but cusco do real good ones ( both cusco and ikta formula do front and rear upper A adjust arms )

fronts

as for toe do what tha shz says

So they're just the ball joint end or the entire tie rod? If they're the entire tie rod (ball joint to bush), reckon could you measure for me, centre of bush to centre of balljoint? I doubt they'll be suitable, but ya never know.

Ill have mine back out in the next few weeks to modify the camber arm / lower control arm and will measure the toe tierods at the same time.

I need less negative camber, not more. Cheers but i just dropped a grand on the upper control arms, and the only adjustible UCA's i've found for my car are about a grand EACH, so gonna flag that idea. I'll work out how to replace or modify the lower arms to bring the bottom back in.

Might just do a few trips round the wreckers checking for replacement toe tierods
