Police complaint

Postby dnalunchie » Wed Jun 17, 2009 10:46 pm

Hey guys I just thought i would share with you something that happend to Burning Angel, Ajz and myself tonight. We were out getting dinner in Burning Angels corona and got pulled over by a cop, now the corona didnt have reg or wof and so after a few minutes the cop comes back with two tickets for this and Laas (Burning Angel) is polite and accepts this as he knows hes buggerd anyway, fair enough you may think as both were out by over a month..... but here is where it goes wrong.... just as the cop turns to leave he stops, and pokes his head into the window and shines his torch on Ajz in the back and then me in the passenger front seat.. he then pauses looks at me and says, "oh you still have fun wasting peoples time test driving cars?.... at this point I had no idea what he was on about and said "Im sorry what officer?" and he replys " are you still wasting peoples time test driving cars that you dont buy?".... . he then walked off.

My flat mates looked at me and then it finally dawned on me.. he was the owner of an STI I test drove about 3 months back after i sold the Type R before I brought the RS Legacy. So apparently if your a cop, and someone test drives you car, (and I find out it doesnt go nearly as well as the NZ new one I drove a few months prior) it is ok to harass them during a traffic stop.

Now i work at Harvey norman and more and more people will come in to my department and spend a long time talking to me about the benifits of different washing machines, dishwasher ovens etc, and very often when i suggest one to buy the reply with "oh im still looking around" and probably proceed to go buy it elsewhere. My point is this tho, if someone came back and I said to them "Did you have fun wasteing my time earlier?" I would fully expect and deserve a serious warning and thats doing it in my own workplace. Fastforward to this situation and it would be the equivilent of me walking up to a customer in the street and harassing them in public...... I dunno about you guys but If this behaviour is unacceptable in my job then in a situation where you have the added element of Police authority and intimidation factor it seems totally out of order.

Ill be laying an official for this tomorow morning also.

Good on you, that was totally uncalled for, You should have quizzed him some more and said something like "build a bridge mate" haha

Obviously you bought your legacy instead of his STI so this proves that you weren't a Tyre kicker!

I doubt a complaint will get you anywhere but hey, if you're willing to put in the time, go nuts! Hes just sour no one wanted it I guess, he might have had 20 people do what you did  No excuse though, if only you realised at the time, you could have fired back a great reply 8)

guys do you think Im being over the top or do you think we should expect more from Police?

maybe i should just leave it, I think its more that since i want to be a Cop once i finish my degree I want to think that their better than this, that dispite all the crap they get they would still conduct themselves to a higher standard

I personally believe they are getting more and more cops joining the force that are complete wankers. 80% of them are great but the rest ruin it for them.

I say file a complaint. Probably nothing will come of it but maybe he'll get spoken to and realise what he's done. Plus it'll make you feel a little better. I've had it done to me before so i know how you feel.

Thats personal stuff coming through in their work though. As you say, you wouldn't do the same and you shouldn't expect it from someone either

Yup. Always keep your personal life and business life seperate.

Out of line I say. Almost as if he's using his position as an officer to abuse you.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Would you be making a complaint if it was a forecourt attendant?? Guy at a supermarket??

Sounds like the usual cop lynching. Yeah, it's not really on that he said something, but I'm sure you survived his snide comments all right.

Btw, don't become a cop unless you want to become angry and cynical

best way to get back at him,

laugh about it for a minute, then forget it ever happened.

I had a similar thing happen to me years ago (it was so long ago, it was when i was driving the supra)

Basically i pulled out from the dairy slowly as i was doing up my seatbelt at the time, a car(civilian) came round the corner and then started to sit on my bumper. i speed up quickly to 55 and he sat right on my bumper. i put my foot down to about 65/70 to make some distance and he sat right on my bumper.

So i stopped at the end of the road, flicked him the bird and floored it and left him for dead.

5 months later, i get pulled over in town, by an under cover police car.

the police officer tells me to turn my engine off and get out of the car.

He said, ive been waiting for this day for quite some time now, do you know who i am? I said nope.

It was the geezer that sat on my bumper. He was telling me off for speeding in a residential area and giving him the fingers.

Tried going over my car to give me a fine, but it was all ok.

what a wanker. Although it was pretty funny as he was quite the short ass so i had to look down on him.

It's unprofessional for sure, but it is really complaintworthy? It isn't as though he batoned you, he just made a sarcastic remark.

I can only comment from observation of one of my old managers, who is ex Police. He is probably the most cynical and angry person I've met. However, that is not to say he wasn't like that before being in the Police anyway!

Is his STI still for sale? Get a few hundred people to test thrash it and not buy it :)
