Plenum Runner Length - single throttle body 20v turbo

Postby ke_25 » Mon Jun 22, 2009 1:43 pm

hey,

have enquired briefly on here before about this but have made a decision to stick with the single throttle body,

there fo my question is about the plenum design, i tried doing some reserch on the net and seem to only find things about n/a plenums, and not much under forced induction

the motor is a forged blacktop, with a gt2871r off the side (if that makes a difference) and am in stages of sorting the plenum and was wondering oif a need the runners, i am still runnign the piece which houses the injectors (about 50-60mm long) and would these be adequate for teh runners? or shoudl i still include runners off the plenum to give aditional length?

i am after reasonabel power/boost levels form this thing so want to do it correctly

cheers shaun, heklp appreciated

i'd put another 50-100mm on after the existing manifold. length will have a big impact on where power is made.

I just realised your only going to run a GT2871R.

Just use the stock 4 thorttle system!

Myabe if you were going nuts and using a big GT35 for some insane power then I would say going to a big single would be the way to go.

yeah only a 2871 for now, may go bigger huffer later am running this as was woried about lag!! want to do teh plenum right the first time, turbo is rated up abourn 400-460hp.. bu have seen results on sr20s with 400atwkw.. but i think that be way out of teh turbos efficiency range but yeah

am going to run single for now, with intention of bigger huffer later down the track if need be!!

fantastic book has many hits and tips, covers an array of engines and takes you from the air filter through to the tail pipe, has alot of info and formulae for intake manifolds.
