4agze problem

Postby ps165 » Tue Jun 30, 2009 3:53 am

hoping someone can help me out here, my ae101 gtz 4agze is doing something it shouldn't. when warm -at any throttle position other than full- it wont rev above about 3-3.5k rpm. just dies, either stops getting spark or fuel, perhaps both, no response from accelerator- then after around 5 seconds its good again. the are no codes stored in ecu and no lights come on when it cuts out. when its cold it sometimes hesitates to boost but doesn't cut out and will rev smoothly to redline, i dont thrash it when cold, just noticed that it runs properly, as if it were. also when warm, with foot flat it doesnt seem to have any problem boosting all the way to redline. i know full throttle runs a separate fuel map so im guessing its something to do with whatever helps the ecu calculate the correct fuel mixture, oxy sensor perhaps, or maybe my ecu is faulty. dont really want to buy any replacement parts just for testing purposes, any one have any ideas or had this same problem before?

A stab in the dark here would suggest a possible throttle position sensor or other fault. Reason i'm suggesting t.p.s is when your foot is flat it's good but anything less than that it runs crap. I've probably still got a spare t.p.s in the garage if it'd help to elimintate that, i've found before that a faulty t.p.s won't always bring up a fault code if it's adjusted incorrectly.

good suggestion, i did think of that but for some reason decided it wasnt that, lol. i removed plug and it was fill with water, went for a drive with it unpluged and runs sweet but no boost at all (no surprises there) so will try dryout tps and retest, will be in contact if i need replacement -crisy86, cheers.
