looking at a conversation with the guy with the mk2 30psi 4agte from aussie, he runs the feed from the back of the head and then the return into the bottom of teh radiator?...

the feed i will get from the radiator outlet on the 20v

quote
The coolant line comes off the back of the head and goes to the turbo. From there it goes down to the bottom of the radiator tank. This completes the cycle of hot to cold.

this viable option? or should the return in theory be at the top of the radiator?

for water to flow there needs to be a pressure difference at each end. if you connect one end to the head (20v radiator outlet) and the other to the top of the radiator.. what you're doing is connecting it basically from the top radiator hose back to the top radiator hose. so not going to do much. the return to the bottom radiator hose is a better option because there may be restriction through the radiator so the mk2 guy is using this difference in pressure to create flow through the turbo. i'd still try return it into the heater return line as then you'll be using the pressure difference across the thermostat as well. his setup won't be getting water thru the turbo until the engine is warm. i bet i could get the turbo over 120'C before the engine is warm! bubble bubble. also helps the warmup cycle flowing water thru the turbo when cold.
