Going down to check this out on tuesday, he wanting 3g for it. He says it has a bad oil leak should this put me off? IM wondering what it could be as its only done 90 000ks

Also needs new steering system, no wof or rego for 2 months

Advice people !! I wouldnt be selling my car to get it, as i have money put aside for it

Just talked to the guy, apparently he thinks its only the CVs and says that he thinks oil leak is coming from around the flywheel please your opinions people

Well without even clicking the link i'd be looking elsewhere, why buy someone elses problem? Unless you enjoy fixing things like that up anyway

Anything that has no wof / reg is normally a project, so if thats what you're after go nuts 8)

However, could be a good car going by the pics / shopping list. Get it checked out HARD though.

That car sold for $9000 on trademe a couple of months ago, hes only wanting 3grand for it, shouldn't cost that much to get it running again hopefully

Leaking from flywheel means rear main has gone. Which means the gearbox has to come off.

And new steering system? If it needs a new PS pump, prepare to pay 8O

Its still 1/10th the price of the car... and if he cant do it himself it makes a more expensive car.

On the other hand, buying a car with problems cheap can pay off. I got my RC cheap cos it didnt run, and its been hella worth it.

Definately comes down to how much work you can do and actually want to do. Sounds like a good buy with all the good parts on it.

If the rear main seal has gone, then you'd want to be doing all the other seals as well, otherwise you'll fix that and find the others will go soon after.

So if you're thinking of buying it, you should also do cam seals, front seal of the crank (can't remember what its called), the cam belt and water pump as well.
Might as well be an engine out job for all that. Have you got the time and patience for that?

Also, with the steering thing, see if you can find a non powersteering rack. Rare as gold plated hens teeth, but I remember asking Warwick about that once, and he used that term to describe them, then messaged me back saying he had contacted some wreckers and said "I found some goldplated hens teeth 8O "
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Only good for parts IMO, that engine is definitely means rebuild material.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Current SW + new SW =

Unless your looking for a donor car or have spare time as everyone has said it might be nothing, it might be alot of work.

Someone paid $9k for that heap...I only wanted $7500 for mine with 12 second timeslips...

Leave it alone and find a better one, its a parts car and worth $1500 at most.

$4000-$4500 will get you a tidy gen1/2 turbo if you are prepared to wait.
