Caldina ST215 WORKSHOP MANUAL UPDATE!!!!!!

Postby dakine » Thu Jul 09, 2009 5:27 pm

Hey guys,

So I got in contact with the guys doing the manual over at jpnz.co.nz, they said that they got the initial 200 people interested, then sent out an email to those people to see how many would confirm that they would order and about 80 of those confirmed that.

They won't proceed until they have 150 confirmed orders at the current price on the site, however if they can get 50 people to 100% confirm they will buy the manual at $280 then they will proceed, or 100 people at around $150, or if people wanna buy two or more an sell on trademe, etc.

Basically we just need you guys to commit to buying one and at a price where they can cover costs.

You're buying the ability to have a manual to repair your wagon guys!!! come on!!!

If you are interested, can you make it known on this thread, there are another few caldina based forums I will be notifying to try get numbers sorted.

If you have anymore questions just ask on here and I will contact them again...

also keen to know what its going to cover before committing.

I am keen but at that price I want to be getting something decent

Edit: Last time I was in contact with them I think they said they wouldnt begin printing until the money was received. Which is going to be a tough task to get the money from 150 people

i would get details of the manual first

I've been waiting for this manual for months!

I'm happy to pay upfront to get the manual, it will pay for itself very quickly.

What exactly do you expect to get out of this manual?

I can tell it's not going to tell you how to remove the engine or even the gearbox, in fact it's very light on the basics that a home mechanic wants to know.

It's more aimed at the workshop professional that wants to know diagnostic procedure and what the wear limits/clearance settings are. Most home mechanics wouldn't have the facilities to carry out a lot of the diagnostic procedures or the tools and ability to measure this sort of stuff.

I would definitely pay $150 for a good workshop manual on the Caldina.

However:
I can tell you right now I will not part with $280 for one. (Unless the Cover is 24 Carat Gold plating)

$150 I'm in.

$280 I'm not.

280 is quite up there, the only part of the manual i'd need would be the engine mechanical, and that is the same as the st205 engine it is already on the net for free, i only have the heart of a caldina not the whale thing.

so most people would be paying for a body/drive train and electrical manual and as fivebob said it prob wont tell you how to pull any of it out. to be useful you would need a full hoist and trans jack at home or access to.
as my mechanic says "a cars a cars a car"

though i can see it would help to fix little problems that might cost heaps to find/fix at a shop.

another gripe is the photos in most of these, if only they where as detailed and accurate as my mates mini manual he got from the u.k i never knew a mini was that much car!!!

e.g shims and washers. they never detail the correct side the taper is suppose to go:evil:

What photos, all you get is diagrams

If you want to see a sample of what the manual looks like here's a page from my Russian version.

Haha yep.. good ole HP Server boxes!

As for the manual, it would be a good idea but is alittle bit of a stretch at $280, i dont know if i value that information that much..

Sorry for the late reply, pages will be between the 400 to 500 mark. We
try to keep the manual to 400 pages or we have to put into two volumes
for anything over 400 pages. All requests are for the GTT so we may not
bother with the other models or engines. Sections covered will be the
same as our other manuals which I will list below:

Overview
Engine mechanical
Engine lubrication
Fuel and fuel supply
Traction control system (TCL)
Engine cooling
Intake and exhaust
Engine Electrical
Engine & emission control
Clutch
Manual Transmission
Automatic Transmission
Propeller shaft.
Front Axle
Rear Axle
Wheels & tyres
Power plant mount
Front & rear suspension
Basic brake system
Anti lock brake system (ABS) <4WD>
Active stability control system (ASC)
Parking brake
Steering
Body
Exterior
Interior and SRS Airbags
Chassis electrical
Electrical wiring diagrams

More people we get the cheaper it will be, it would be ideal if some people brought multiple copies and just made their money back flicking them off on trademe...
