Big welding cable

Postby cat007 » Thu Jul 09, 2009 6:20 pm

hey

Who knows where to buy, or better yet, has contacts, to get welding wire?

I'm wanting some very chunky 0 or 1 gauge cable to run from battery to inverter. Amp draw isn't a major as it's only a 1000watt inverter - but I want to have as minimal voltage loss and the bigger the cable the less voltage loss I'm going to get.....

Cheers

how much do you want? what colour and what size?

I can get @ good pricing the Aflex (or other brand) welding cable.

http://www.firstflex.co.nz/cables.html

id reccomend an AFX035 or AFX050 being a 35 or 50mm based on
info such as 22amps, 5 meter runs etc.

Can also supply lugs and links to crimp and connect, flick us a PM

I have a contact...havnt used him in a while and prices are fluctuating but i should be able to get 50mm for $14 per m, also can put lugs on for an extra $2.50 hex crimped.... but postage from dunedin may be what kills it.

Jaycar/DSE 1 gauge is a rip.

Pretty sure the likes of Blackwood Paykel sell welding cable.

I ran 0 gauge on my audio install, and just bought it from boc. If I remember it wasn't too bad price wise.
