WTD: Someone with a lathe

Postby Bling » Thu Jul 16, 2009 9:37 pm

Does anyone have or have access to a lathe?

I have an axle that i'd like to get shortened and have the diameter reduced along its length to 25mm with a couple of smaller step downs on the end.

Anyone able to help me out? :D Cheaper the better

Cheers Any recommendations for places to go for this would also be a great help.

Nah axle size is sweet as, its just that none of the thicknesses are good sizes. All the sizes are random.

Been into a couple of bearing specialists and they measured it all up etc and said 25mm is the best diameter. Can do other sizes but the size the axle is, doesn't suit anything. I think the axle is mostly 26mm (ish) its not quite, and so easiest way is for my to get it all lathed down to 25mm exactly, then I can easily get bearings on there and she'll be sorted.

Cheers though :)

25 mm seems an odd size, you sure its not inch? (yes, even on a jap car)

Yeah both places said 25mm is a standard size, so should be correct.

The axle is ~26mm but isn't exactly that, so needs to be lathed down, so 25mm is the best size aparently. Probably common I guess.
