SuperStrut suspension specialists in Akl?

Postby benj » Mon Jul 27, 2009 8:11 pm

Hi,

My ST205 has a nasty clunk in the front right suspension. Chances are its the banana arm, however I'm way to much of a muppet to attempt the diagnosis and repair myself.

So can anyone recommend a place that has a good track record with superstrut suspension?

I live in Greenhithe so would prefer somewhere on the shore, but work in town and can get most anywhere in Auckland.

Cheers

Benj

Most unlikely it will be banana arm, It could be the bush in banana arm if certain about location of noise, that item is replaceable, if not from toyota, you could press in an after-market unit.
Most of the clunks come from figure eight and straight arm (big ball joints). To replace all 4 (2 fig 8, 2 straight arms) it will cost you about 750. One banana arm is ~1000...

And of course I meant to say fig 8 (doh!) and hence proving publicly why I should never be trusted to fix anything more complex than a flat tyre.

Try the toyspeed sponsor on the forums for the parts . I remember paying a whole lot less ages ago compared to my local toyota dealer.

May be crush tubes are in upside down, they are meant to go in from the top of the subframe not from the bottom, they can give you the clunk noise.

You have had the engine in and out eh, they would have put them in the wrong way,

Cheap fix to put the car on the hoist and check and then drop subframe to install correctly

Check check it my brothova
