Hey all

Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with using this product??

I love my Supra but the tire noise from the rear is just killing me, even after buying new Toyo CT01's which is suppose to be a softer quieter compound tire!!!

I read on a Supra forum over in the UK that 1 of the guys there used it and it worked a treat...just wanted to know if anyone else here locally has...

Thinking about buying some but would like to know if its worth it or not?

I had it all around my car...and I regret doing it. I didn't really notice a noise reduction inside the cabin. But i have no sound meter to proof my experience - but honestly don't think is worth the money.

its the best thing since sliced bread,

not sure how much it will deaden your tyre noise,

i have a layer over the entire car including the whole rear and has worked a treat, you may also want to think about carpet underlay which may help,

i cant hear any tyre noise or exhaust noise at all from inside with the windows up,

Pauls audio in chch will be able to help you out with it,

Repco sell it too. Plan to do my doors quite soon. Buying a car with out any sound deadening is fail.

cool, will check Repco.....yeah unfortunately Supras have a habit of being quite noisy, my sisters partners one was exactly the same as mine. They're known to have bit noise come from the rear wheel arches and boot area...

Just keen to make it a bit more quieter

Its not cheap btw, you might get away with buying a door kit. The other option is bostic make a product too, dont know what it cost though.

repco haha, yeah right, contact pauls they will sort you out with best pricing,

bostic wouldnt be that good if it has to go into tight corners,

make sure when you apply the dynamat that you roll it out and have a nice clean surface to start with

Repco isn't too bad if you can find someone who'll give you trade/staff discount......Retail is laughable

Just been in touch with Pauls Audio..awesome bunch of guys!! Just gonna do some measuring up and see how much i need then will prob do an order.

yeah, staff price at repco is the best price you will get it for

Although I fear you may be barking up the wrong tree... dynamatt is aimed more at reducing rattles etc in your car, there are better things you can use for blocking road noise. Suprised DeeCee hasn't piped up, he is a busy man though. He's an expert on this sorta stuff, would be worth chatting to him before you jump into anything. Think he was going to use wetsuit material for this application

For noise, you either block, absorb, diffuse/convert the energy of sound.

DX is not the be all and end all, but it does help.

yeah im wanting to block out the noise if i can or at least absorb most of it so you cant hear it as much while driving, its so bad that it even drowns out my stereo...any other suggestions or other products you can recommend??

do you have the interior in your car or is it stripped out? Do you want to save weight or don't mind having a slightly heavier car?

yeah standard car so interior is still in their, noise is coming mainly from the wheel arches....dont mind adding a few kg's for comfort...

Get your DX from the guys at Pauls. Trunk pack would be plenty IMO.
Read through this first and measure up before you go buying anything.

You'll want to get inside the interior panels to cover the metal on the arches with DX.
Give the metal a quick wipedown, just to rid of dust and crap. Doesn't have to be perfect.

Cut into strips or squares, will help applying the DX to the metal.
(watch fingers as the DX is a foil with thick adhesive material/goo on the back - it becomes a serrated knife when you cut. Use a sharp craft knife and a metal ruler to make tidy squares/strips)

Apply to metal arches on the inside as much as possible, either form fitting or using an overlap method with as much metal to DX contact as possible.

If the arch shows, then it has to be covered. This includes the boot area if the internal metal panel is mounted on or across an arch. Dont' forget the strut towers as well as noise can eminate up there.

Between the inner and outer panel, you'll want to stuff some foam in there. You can buy blocks of open cell foam from the likes of payless plastics. Wedge them into the space between interior and exterior panels to act as a difuser of noise. If you are really hard up, you can use old rags or clothes. We want to pack a decent amount of foam in there to diffuse the noise coming through.

If you were really willing, then you could try the foam first before buying the DX. You may save a couple of bucks that way.

I don't recommend using spray foam filler. Its a bitch to get out later.

Does that make sense? You are trying to block the sound with the DX and diffuse or muffle the sound with the foam. You may be able to get away with the foam and save a pile of money and not have a huge amount of weight added either. Depends if you want to experiment.

I have to doa coupel of proposals for work and meet a client, but if you need a diagram, i can make one up later.
