Rules for Fuel Cells

Postby Py7h0n » Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:42 pm

I've got a 5 Gal fuel cell I want to use for Drag Racing (C16) with some quick valves to switch between it and my main tank. My car is a Supra so it does not have an enclosed boot. The fuel fittings as well as the vent will be external to the boot (underneath and pipe under).

Do I need to get my cert modified again?

Do I need to build a box around the cell to keep it seperate?

No, wouldn't think you'd need a cert for it.

It would all need to be covered for MSNZ events, not sure on the rules for drags. I have a friend who had surge tank & fittings in the cabin of an AE86 hatch and did drag racing no probs. I wouldn't have passed it at scruit though.

drags have different rules for fuel than MNZ. IE MNZ allows fuel lines to run thru the car cabin, NZDRA/NZHRA doesn't.
