Got a puncture in the caldina, on the left rear, have got a 90% worn tyre sorted to go on it, but was just wondering is there is any issue putting a new tyre on one side and retaining old tyre on the otherside (5mm tread)
The tyre thats going on it is the same as all others (Bridgestone Potenza GIII 205/60/r15) and we have gone through this crowd for tyres before and not had a problem so have no worries using these tyres, apart from the potential difference in tread.
Anyone know if that poses an issue?
I've had tyres wear at different rates in the past and its never been an issue wof time, but thought I should ask the question

I don't see an issue. I'm sure any grip difference would be marginal. The fact they are the same tyres all around would reduce any difference too. If you were changing tyre then you might notice something.

shoudl be fine man, if in doubt see if they will do you a trade in for 2 new ones i do that a bit ay keeps the customer happy and we can resell the other one as a secondhand one.

cheers but all sorted now, sent the mrs to get it done. if they had two in stock I would've just grabbed two for the rears and stick the 5mm one on a spare.

tyre tread depths only really matter when you have a really sensitive traction control/abs set up.

but if the others are 5 mm you are fine , less than that could potentially cause damage mechanically to central diff or transfer

Yeah this is what I was thinking re centre diff, as it is 4wd, but I forgot to mention the fact above, others may have assumed FWD, crap.
